Dear Servant of the Lord:

Greetings in the Precious Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I am very thankful for National Convention at Regina.  Thank-you for your prayers and support.  Thank-you for allowing Anna Mae and me to continue to serve as General Secretary by acclamation.  We request your continued prayers.

The convention theme was "Operating in Authority with Vision and Purpose" Gen. 41:38 -49.  Few people walk across the pages of the Old Testament with such majesty and distinction as Joseph.  Into one life was distilled the rich graces of faith, hope, and love.

What contrasts also are evident?  In one moment he is a prophet, the next he is a victim of his prophecy.  At one moment he is a prisoner, the next he is in command of the economic and political affairs of Egypt.  Early in life he is hated by his brothers, later in life he is honored by his brothers.

Please note one thing was constant, "The Lord was with Joseph," and Joseph obeyed, followed, and served the Lord well throughout his many eventful years.

Joseph hated, envied, and conspired against.  Genesis 37 Joseph faces problems at home.  It is difficult for a young man to grow up in the environment of evil brothers and yet maintain his honour, decency, and dignity.  Joseph was a dreamer and his dreams were prophetic.  His brothers hated him because of his dreams.  Genesis 37:5, 8.

Our problem is not that we may be disliked, but how we respond to it.  Joseph is a proper example.  He does not retaliate, never complains, nor does he throw in the towel and quit.

The right response to opposition.  Joseph learned to listen, be quiet, and meditate.  Observe that in all his trying experiences recorded in Genesis 37, there is no mention of verbal response to his brothers or of hostile retaliation toward them.

Trials and difficulties are God's opportunities for revealing His power and providence.  God's response to Joseph's position Genesis 39:2.  In whatever circumstance Joseph is faithful to his superiors and his work prospered because the Lord was with Joseph.

Some New Testament truths which Joseph learned in Old Testament times.

How do we respond to the "hard knocks"?  Some of us may become bitter, vindictive, or retaliatory.  Others may adopt a philosophy of resignation to them while some may run and evade them.

Our need is to learn from Joseph's experience that "hard knocks" are sure to come, that these may be blessed experiences through which God is working out His purpose.  It is the crushed blossom that sends forth the sweetest fragrance.

Righteousness will ultimately win; evil cannot. God is doing a unique work across Canada and around the world today.  It is a statement from God's Word, pointing us to the last times - that He who said He "has given you the former rain faithfully" will cause "the latter rain" to come bringing with it restoration and redemptive graces; bringing the Bride of Christ to a place of purity, fidelity, integrity, and maturity - all this enhancing Her "ministering" presence.  Ephesians 5: 24-27.

God is raising up Josephs.  A true Joseph is one who is a provider both spiritually and materially for those in the Body of Christ.  It is a person who understands that he/she is simply a manager of all that God has entrusted to him/her.  It is a person who has humility and a broken and contrite heart before God.

Are you willing to allow God to do whatever it takes for you to become a true Joseph?  Ask the Lord today to do whatever is necessary to fully use your gifts and talents for His eternal Kingdom.

Your servant in Christ,

Rev. Paul McPhail, General Secretary

ARCTIC BIBLE CONFERENCE (22nd)

"Celebration Life" was held April 13-20, 2006 at Kuujjuaq, Quebec.  Kuujjuaq was the location selected by the leaders to host this year's conference.  It is located in northern Quebec.  The meaning of the name in Inuktitut means "big river" It used to be called Fort Chimo.  For the first time this year we were able to broadcast the conference through the Internet.  We had people from all over the world join us through the Internet.  Places and names that joined us were England, Africa, Hawaii, USA, Calgary, Newfoundland, Australia, New Zealand, there are probably others that I did not mention?  We received word that someone who was watching was healed from illness.  Others that watched have said that they were extremely blessed by the coverage - and they were able to flow with the conference even though they were not there in person.  What a blessing it is when technology is used for the right reasons.

Mission - The mission of the Arctic Bible Conference is to bring encouragement to the Body of Christ and the local community.  The mission is to spread the gospel of Good News.  Our mission is to honor God by expressing our love to Him and with each other using our own Inuit language and culture

If we are going to talk about the Mission - we need to show you the heart of the Leadership.  Our heart is to love the Lord our God with our whole heart.  Our heart is to love each other with the Love of God.  Our heart is to worship and praise our Lord by bringing glory and honor to Jesus Christ.  We are not trying to start a denomination or take away anything that already exists, we are striving for unity in the Body of Christ in the North.

The leaders that oversee the Arctic Conference are as follows: James T. Arreak Director Arctic Conference, Billy Arnaquq-Apostle, Nunavut Region, Elyassie Sallualuk Apostle, Hudson Region, Annie Tertiluk Apostle, Ungava Region

Background - This conference was started by a gentlemen named John Spillenaar (1916-2003) who gathered the Inuit Christians.  During the early days, John would pay for all the airfares of the leaders to attend the conferences.  In 1984 about 20 people first came together in Arctic Bay, Nunavut.  It gained popularity as time went on.  Pretty soon this became a semi-annual conference.  Each year Inuit were taught the Word of God, and Inuit leaders were raised that would Pastor newly founded churches in the local communities many lives started getting saved, healed and delivered from darkness.  Many leaders were raised up.  Each year these new churches got together and attended the semi-annual conferences.

In 1992, something dramatic happened that changed the course of these conferences.  The 'special speakers' from the south that were scheduled to speak were stranded due to weather and could not get in.  This forced the Inuit leaders to a place where they had no choice but to come to the front stage.  Inuit leaders had to fill the gap and become speakers themselves.  This brought them to a new level where they had to labor through the struggles of feeling inadequate and not prepared.  However, the anointing on the Inuit was very evident.  There were times the anointing was so strong people became drunk in the Lord for the first time, some could not get up, some were taken to the health center for observations because they fell into deep trances where they couldn't speak for a couple days, others were drunk in the Spirit all night, some did not even sleep, but the next day they came to the morning sessions absolutely fresh.  There was a time when the spirit of intercession became so strong any person that came to the building started to confess their sins lying down because they could not stand.  The presence of the Lord was so strong people just came to the altar with their face down - and that would go on all day and all night long: people repenting and confessing their sins, wanting more of God.  There was an exponential growth in interest and more and more Inuit attended these conferences.

During the Iqaluit Bible Conference in the fall of 1998, John Spillenaar and Roger Armbruster recognized that Inuit were ready to take the reigns of directing the Arctic Conferences.  We will never forget the ceremony that took place as Roger and John humbled themselves and washed the feet of the Inuit-leaders.  As they washed their feet they humbled themselves and repented for the colonialism and control that southern ministers brought to the north.  They released the Inuit to lead without being influenced and controlled from the outside.  I remember these moments - a Godly fear had entered my spirit.  A kind of fear that wanted to do a good job as we entered taking the position of a new realm and growth - and a deep desire to please the Lord. And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?" Luke 12:42

Inuit are rising up - One of the major messages of this conference is the Inuit were being summoned to rise up and take ownership.  It became very evident and clear that the Inuit need to take their rightful place as the stewards of the Land that the Lord has given them.  What does rising up mean?  We do not totally understand what it means yet but here are some comments made by leaders "The Lord has given us this Land, it is ours, and we must declare that we have taken ownership".  We appreciate all the labourers that have taken us (Inuit) to where we are today.  We are grateful but we Inuit must be released to be who God made us to be.  Inuit are different and will do things differently.  This is very refreshing and this will bring life spice to the Body.  In order to complete the work, the Inuit need to be released into their God given destiny.  The timing is in the Lord's hand.  Some Inuit leaders said "We have depended on outside help for too long, it is time we take ownership and control over our future, our heart is not to bring rebellion, but to bring fulfillment".

As the Inuit came to their rightful place - the Inuit were led by Reverend Billy Arnaquq to a place where the leadership humbled themselves before the Lord.  The Inuit leaders started off with a humbling of themselves to the Body of Christ.  Inuit Pastors repented for any hurts they inflicted to their local flocks.  All the leaders confessed that they were not always right and wanted to humble themselves to the people.  The Inuit leaders asked for forgiveness for all the short comings and abuse they have caused.  The Inuit leaders came to the front and fell on their faces all together.  The word was we will not stop making mistakes but we want to stop hurting people.  There was a deep repentance and a deep cry.  LORD FORGIVE US!?!?!

The Body of Christ responded to the repentance of the leaders, we all got together in a circle and forgave one another and the Body of Christ prayed for and blessed the leaders.

New Level - Cree Leader Kenny Blacksmith began to prophesy that the Lord is taking the Inuit leaders to the new level - the Apostolic mantle has come upon the Inuit leaders.  Not to anyone in particular but to the whole leadership.  Together they carried the Apostolic mantle and authority that God released.  Kenny said that this mantle will startle abruptly and cause a shifting change.  And the Inuit must follow the cloud by day and the fire by night (this was not declared) rather he said we must move when the spirit of God moves&ldots;like when the Ark of the Covenant moved the Levites followed.  The Inuit will not be the enforcers of this but the Lord will direct this change. Kenny used the passage in Isaiah 52: 15 "So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him&ldots;"

Kenny mentioned this passage in the bible is English translation, the word 'sprinkle' in Hebrew means suddenly.  A sudden down pour.  And the word 'shut' means gates.  This act will startle the nations, and people will be surprised.

First People Connection - Our (Inuit) covenant at One Heart, Quebec last July 2005 was to all the First Nations including Métis in Canada.  The covenant was THE INUIT WILL STAND WITH THE FIRST NATIONS, WE WILL WALK WITH YOU, WE WILL DIE WITH YOU, FOR THE SAKE OF THE LORD, WE WILL NOT LET YOU (FIRST NATIONS) GO UNTIL WE SEE YOU COME TO A PLACE WHERE YOU REACH YOUR GOD GIVEN DESTINY.

The Inuit invited Kenny Blacksmith to this conference as a special speaker.  It was our intent to get to know Kenny.  We enjoyed every moment we had with Kenny.  The Inuit, and all the audience, got to know Kenny Blacksmith's gentle nature and his ability to speak biblical truths in story-like format.  The elders really enjoyed his gentleness and wisdom.  The Inuit people have connected with Kenny.  He spoke with gentle authority and people listened.  There were other First Nations that came to this conference: Louise Blacksmith (Kenny's wife) and Karen Hunt (BC).

It is our intention to create a forum where we can get to know each other.  Kenny came and shared his heart with us.  We feel that we are in a time where the Inuit and the First Nations will visit one another.  Spending time with each other so that we will know how to walk together and lift each other up.  It is really important that the covenant we make have depth and meaning so that the connection has substance.  The next First People's summit will be in June 21 and 22, 2006 - many Inuit are planning to attend.  The First People's will sign the covenant they made in 2005. (maybe mention that we believe in relationship first, if we are to walk with each other we have to know one another&ldots;that is the heart of the leaders&ldots;we invite those we feel we are connected to in our hearts.)

We sense that the connection between the First People's of Canada is key.  There is a connection between the people that God wants to use.  We sense an excitement and are drawn to each other.  We sense once the First People start to rise up together - this will cause an awakening amongst the First People's of Canada: Inuit, First Nations, and Métis.  I have sensed the power of God in the connection amongst the First People's.

Youth -There were youth dancers at the conference, one group was from Kuujjuaq that was led by Elisapee Annahatak and Sala. The youth did wonderful dances, we were really impressed and touch by their hunger for the Spirit of God!

Also there were POV youth dancers that did many dances which gave strong message to the rest of the people and a lot of youth were stirred and encouraged by those dances.

Part of the highlight of the conference was the hunger in the children and youth for the Spirit of God, they were so touched and forever changed by the glory of God! Many young people and children gave their hearts to the Lord, more so than adults!

Other Speakers -We had other speakers that came to be with the Inuit.  We were very blessed that our special speakers could take time from their busy schedules and be with the conference.  They were Luc Gingras, Faytene Kryskow, Michael Pierce and David Ellyatt.

Luc Gingras connected with the youth - his messages were sharp and targeted and his music attracted the young people and all other ages. Luc came with a servant heart and encouraged the Body of Christ tremendously! He wants to see Inuit rise up the where God has called them to be in the Body of Christ! His peculiar personality and lifestyle brings spice and hope to the lost!  We thank Luc for taking the time to be with us.  God bless Luc.  Please check Luc out at www.lucgingras.com

Faytene Kryskow is not a stranger to the north.  She has been coming often over the last 1.5 years.  Faytene is leading a group of young people in Canada that want to see righteousness come back Parliament. Faytene gave strong message to the people and to young people, the children were really attracted to her and wanted more of her everyday! It is a blessing and an encouragement to see a young lady rising up in the National level! See some of Faytene's own comments regarding the conference http://flyhighministries.blogspot.com Faytene is also coordinating a big conference in Ottawa, July 15, 2006 - THE CRY 2.  James and Looee are planning on coming to attend this major event.  You can check out more information on this link at http://www.4mycanada.ca.

We were also blessed to have Michael Pierce come to minister at the Kuujjuaq Conference.  Inuit, particularly leaders, connected with Michael's ministry in the fall 2005.  Michael released some really deep truths that challenged those that came and listened through cyberspace. He also, brought healing and hope into many lives at the conference.

Next Conference - The Inuit leaders chose the next conference, in 2007 and it will be hosted by the community of Rankin Inlet, Nunavut.

WORKING TOGETHER PASTORS AND EVANGELISTS

It is important to establish and clarify practical working relationship ethics between the pastor, local church, and the itinerant evangelist. Following are keys that may be beneficial in developing this co-operation.

What Pastors Wish Every Evangelist Knew - Pastors, often working under stressful schedules, are sometimes frustrated by their relationships with itinerant ministries. There are some practical applications on the part of the evangelist that could make for smoother interaction with pastors and local churches.

Arrangements - It would be helpful if the itinerant minister would contact the local church and pastor well in advance, preferably several months. The local board needs time to discuss matters and make sufficient preparation. Sometimes there is a conflict of arrangements that could be avoided with adequate advance planning.

After arrangements have been made by telephone, send a written letter of confirmation. Life in the local church can be hectic; telephone conversations can be misunderstood and details can be forgotten. In the confirmation letter, give at least one contact number where you can be reached, in case of an unforeseen change of plans. Include also your arrival plans and other expectations.

Arrival - It is a necessary courtesy to telephone some days before arrival to let the pastor know where you are at and what time you will be arriving. This also gives an assurance that you have not forgotten or found it impossible to keep your engagement. If cancellation is necessary, contact the local church pastor as soon as possible. Doing so will halt any further advertising expense or misunderstanding.

If feasible, arrive in time to communicate with the church leadership in regards to setting up equipment and sense some of the vision and burden of the community where you will serve. It is not polite, nor a good example, to arrive late to a service where you are expected to minister.  Prepare everything you need in the meeting hall as soon as possible, such as musical instruments, book table, and overhead projector or power point presentations. When applicable, allow time to make contact with the interpreter for a review of message material.

Finances - It is wise to let the pastor take up the offerings. The itinerant ministry is expected to have impeccable integrity of lifestyle, particularly in financial matters.

Ethics and Attitudes - It is important to use discretion and common sense by submitting to the suggested order of service of the assembly where you are ministering, while keeping your spirit open for the Holy Spirit's direction. For example, if one is asked to share briefly, do not use that as an opportunity for a three-hour discourse! Respect and honour the pulpit where you have been invited.

It is also proper ethics to be accountable to the leadership of the church where you will minister. Avoid making plans with the congregation without the pastor's knowledge or permission. Let all invitations for fellowship be screened through the leadership. This will protect you as well as church members from uncomfortable or unwise fellowship. Also, it is good policy to let the leadership know generally of your visiting or shopping plans, so that you could be contacted in an emergency.

Respect the doctrine and conduct code of the local church where you have been invited. If there are some things that you don't agree with, out of courtesy, avoid those issues. You are the invited guest. Be an honourable one.

Unless the leadership advises you otherwise, when you have finished your ministry, give the service back to those who are leading the meeting instead of dismissing. There may be some announcements that need to be made or situations clarified. Doing so will help connect the people in the service back to the local leadership.

Other than basic Christian principles, leave the counselling to the local church leadership. They know the people and often have already interacted with the individuals who may come to you. For example, people may come to seek advice on marriage conflicts or church disharmony. One can scarcely give accurate counsel with only a few minutes discussion of a one-sided story. Unless you have a clear word from the Lord, don't implicate yourself by giving advice in situations with unknown factors.

We are servants together in the work of the Lord. It could be a great blessing if the visiting ministers would walk with a humble spirit of service. Often the travelling ministry has closed doors because of an over-bearing we'll-show-you-how-to-do-it attitude. As much as possible be accommodating and content, with a grateful attitude. Don't demand to be treated like a king, but show gratitude for every effort of hospitality. Some churches simply do not have abundant financial or human resources and are sharing the best that they have. Accept with graciousness, as the servant of the Lord, what has been given.

Evangelists, because of the awe generated by their specific anointing and personality, have the ability and authority to make statements in a way that the local leadership would not dare to or is no longer listened to when they do. It can bring great blessing if the evangelist uses these opportunities to strongly re-affirm the local church and to establish and lift up the local leadership. The evangelist will be leaving town tomorrow but the loyalties of the people need to be turned again to the local church, where they will stay to be built up within that body. Make it a point to show honour and respect to that church and leadership. You can do this by publicly acknowledging and thanking them in the services, speaking respectfully about them, and taking a position of agreement with the leadership.

What Evangelists Wish Every Pastor Knew - Itinerant ministries can bring tremendous refreshing, enlargement of vision, and new impetus for evangelism to the local church. However, there are some practical guidelines that would enhance the life of an evangelist, and make ministry more effective. If possible, the evangelist should communicate these useful suggestions to pastors to help them in assisting itinerant ministers.

Correspondence - Encourage pastors to promptly answer mail! It is as important for pastors to answer letters as it is for evangelists to keep pastors informed of their whereabouts. The days of uncertainty while waiting for a reply, not to mention the set back to further arrangements, could be relieved even by a negative response. Waiting and waiting with no reply is very disheartening.

To prepare for this possibility, the evangelist could offer to initiate response. Set a time frame in which to contact the pastor again for confirmation.

Cancellations - If arrangements have been made, even tentatively, request at least a month's notice on a cancellation, if possible. It is extremely difficult for an itinerant ministry to re-fill empty slots in the schedule at the last minute. Some pastors may not understand this dilemma.

Preparation - It can be frustrating for an evangelist to arrive at a local church and find little preparation in prayer and publicity. Posters are intended to inform the unconverted of the community about the upcoming services. It can be disheartening to see all the promotional material that has been made available, hanging in the church foyer. Rarely will the unchurched see it there!

The primary purpose of an evangelist is to be a harvester of souls. Every effort to bring unsaved people to the services would be much appreciated. Yes, there will be a message of encouragement for believers, but this is an opportunity for Christian outreach into the community with the message of the gospel.

It may be helpful for the itinerant ministry to provide suggestions of how the publicity could be done. Some church leaders may be unsure of how to advertise.

Accommodations- If hotel accommodations are not possible, it should be a priority for the local church to provide the visiting minister with a clean, quiet room that has a table and adequate lighting. A good table lamp is a real luxury! Most itinerant ministers need time alone to prepare, write notes, answer mail, and study. It is not convenient to write on the bed or on the kitchen table! Poverty is not a problem. Filth is!

It would be my wish that everyone who invites a guest would sleep at least once on the bed in their own guestroom! Some hosts would be astonished at what they discover.

For the travelling minister who is placed in less than ideal accommodations, communicate clearly, but compassionately, your needs to the pastor or church leadership. If necessary, phone ahead and specify particular requirements. In all circumstances, be gracious and grateful.

Often when visiting ministries arrive it is after tiring trips. It is truly wonderful to be promptly shown where they are to stay and given the opportunity to get moved in. This helps them adjust quickly to the different surroundings and get the feel of the new place. Encourage the pastors and local assembly to make accommodation preparations well in advance.

Invitations to eat and share in fellowship can be a great blessing but also can be very tiring - not to mention fattening! It would be most helpful if the evangelist could be informed of these invitations, with the option to decline without offence. It may be important for the evangelist to make inquiries in advance in regard to the schedule of services and the type of ministry anticipated.

Finances - On the subject of honorariums, many local churches and pastors do not realize that the full-time itinerant evangelist often has no other source of income. This makes the situation much different than that of a visiting ministry who receives a salary from another source. Love offerings with honorariums can give the opportunity for God's supply in direct response to faith and can be a very special blessing. The image of the evangelist as a money-grabber is usually distorted. Often, it is the lack of generosity of the local church that has caused some itinerant ministries to use unorthodox or unethical means for additional fundraising.

For those who are travelling in ministry and facing difficult financial situations, remember God is in control. Never compromise integrity. The Lord is faithful and will give direction and provision.

Some pastors do not invite a visiting speaker because they do not want the evangelist or themselves to be embarrassed by small crowds, or inadequate finances. I can assure those pastors that most travelling ministries desire to be a blessing to as many people as possible. It is better to bless somebody than sit in a hotel and bless nobody.

There are however occasions when the evangelist needs a break or has not been able to fill the schedule. Hotels are very expensive. If an evangelist is not involved in ministry somewhere, there is very little or no income. It could be suggested to local assemblies that hospitality rooms, where one can stay for several days to rest, would be greatly appreciated.

Pastors and evangelists have unique ministries. Working together, they can be channels used by God to deeply affect many lives for eternity. CALLED OF GOD

Christelle Colant was raised in a Christian family in Belgium.  She gave her life to Jesus when she was six years old. At nine, God put on her heart the desire to serve God in evangelism. She started to study to become a teacher. After a year, God led her to follow a training course in a Bible school in France. After, she kept on working in the bible school with the leaders. During these years, she met the evangelist Anita Pearce, they traveled together in different countries in Europe and in Canada. The Lord began to open doors for her to travel by herself in several local churches. Now, she set up her own organization in France and travels full time in ministry. Salvation, healings and many signs have confirmed her ministry. Christelle was in Quebec holding services in May and June.  She was also the interpreter for the French participants of the Convention of the Independent Assemblies of God International Canada held in Regina Saskatchewan in May, 2006.

OPERATING IN AUTHORITY

WITH VISION AND PURPOSE

Genesis 41: 37-46.  Verse 38 "can we find such a one as this a man in whom the Spirit of God is?"  Verse 41 "and Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt."

Joseph had experienced thirteen difficult years.  He had been a victim of his brothers' evil design and had been cast into a pit.  From the pit he became a slave in Potiphar's house.  Through the deceit and craft of Potiphar's wife, he was cast into prison.  While in prison he interpreted the dreams of the king's butler and baker, but he was forgotten by the chief butler when he was set free.

Most young men would have ended in despair, but Joseph kept on serving.  He served his father obediently, Potiphar's house faithful, the prison keeper and prisoners loyally.  In this manner Joseph really was serving God and learning obedience through suffering.

Has there ever been in all history another who moved suddenly from prison to prime minister?  God Himself enabled Joseph to suddenly emerge from the storm into the sunshine.  Certain factors in his life led to this moment of exaltation.  We shall look at these factors.

Joseph knew that God was in control of his creation.  He knew that God gave the answer. Genesis 41:16 "it is not me, God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace."  People have sought answers through various means throughout the centuries - through science, technology, education and learning, wealth and possessions.  None of these can offer all the answers.  God unfortunately is usually the last resort for people searching for answers to their problems.

This message given at the Regina Convention by Rev Paul McPhail, General Secretary is available in its entirety in written form by contacting the Canadian Mantle Editor at Box 653, Chatham- Kent, Ontario N7M 5K8 or on CD in the Convention package

ATTENDANCE AT CONVENTIONS

AND REGIONAL MINISTER'S MEETINGS

To remind all the members of the Fellowship that it is a requirement that those holding credentials with the Independent Assemblies of God International Canada attend Annual and Provincial Conventions a minimum of once in three years, and that the Regional Ministers Meetings must also be attended by the credential holder.

It is the sponsoring Pastor's responsibility to see that ministers sponsored by them are abiding by these requirements.

It is therefore head office's request that sponsoring Pastors follow up on those they sponsor to assure that these requirements are being met.

SRI LANKA A NATION ON THE BRINK OF WAR

The Island Nation of Sri Lanka is located 80 kilometers southeast of India with a land area of 65,600 square kilometers, and a population of just under 19 million. That makes a population density of just under 290 people per square kilometer.  There are 35,000 villages in addition to several major cities with populations upwards to 2,000,000 as in the case of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.

March 31 to April 28, 2006 was my seventh Missions Ministry Trip to Sri Lanka.  In the first six times I was involved in ministry in Leadership Conferences and in the Local Churches of the Fellowship of Free Churches of Sri Lanka.  During the Conferences that I conducted there in 2003, a particular vision was birthed in the Conference in the city of Badulla as we ministered to Church Leaders from about seven different church organizations!  During the next two years we gathered the necessary finances to fund anticipated Interdenominational Leadership Conferences in three Regions of Sri Lanka.

A theme was selected, Unity through Love and Forgiveness, a team was formed including Larry Keegstra, Marlo Johnson, and Arlo A. Johnson, and through local Sri Lankan Leaders arrangements were made to conduct conferences in Jaffna (April 2-5), Nuwara Eliya (April 9-12), and Badulla (April 19-22).  In addition to ministry at the conferences, the intervening days provided opportunity to minister in the local churches of each region.  We discovered that in addition to the usual variety of church denominations and fellowships, there are many independent churches in Sri Lanka.

The Jaffna conference was attended by 231 pastors and leaders from 21 local churches and four denominations. The Nuwara Eliya conference was attended by 65 pastors and leaders from two major church organizations.  The Badulla conference was attended by 135 pastors and leaders from 29 different churches

Organizations including Baptist, Presbyterian, Lutheran, Seventh Day Adventist, as well as from a great variety of Pentecostal/Charismatic organizations, and many Independent Church Organizations.  Psalm 133 was experienced by all in attendance: "How good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life forevermore!"

Pray with us as we plan to expand this interdenominational ministry in 2007 within the nation of Sri Lanka!

 GODLY PEOPLE PRAYED

Rev Gary Penner and his wife Betty pastor a Church in Pangman, Saskatchewan called Abundant Living Ministries.

Although saved as a child Gary strayed from the Lord as a young person.  But God continued to have his hand on his life. In his teenage years while living in sin God orchestrated that 5 other friends and Gary were invited to a service for  a Church.

In the service one of the 6 who was known as a joker was approached by the youth leader and asked would he like to come to the altar and be saved.  Gary was sure his friend would say something smart and they would be out of there.

But to Gary's surprise this young man went to the altar and received Christ as his Saviour.  Gary also went to the altar that night.  Four hours later he walked out renewed and re-consecrated to serve God and filled with the Holy Ghost. He walked away from the world. Gary says that at that service he laid down a three pack a day cigarette habit.  Which reminds us that deliverance and freedom from bondage is available through the power of God.

After that service they found out that the youth of the Church had been praying and fasting for God to save young people, and as a result the altars were packed with young people finding Jesus, Brother Penner said "thank God godly people prayed for us!"

Having started two Bible schools and several Christian Day schools, Brother Penner's ministry is a teaching ministry. When travelling and preaching in "third world" countries they have seen many people healed.  Betty, his wife has boundless energy and joy.  She loves children, and children love her.  She also preaches the Word.

When first married the Lord spoke to Gary's heart that he was to go into the ministry. He told God, you will have to tell Betty this.  Some time later the Lord spoke to the heart of Betty and told her they would be going into the ministry.  Betty told God you will have to tell Gary this.

God had shown both Gary and Betty the leading into the ministry. Through the years there has been opposition and obstacles to overcome and attacks have come, but the Penner's have continued.  They are dedicated to preaching the truth of God's word and living lives that demonstrate the power of God to save a lost and sinful world.

Our vision for Saskatchewan, and in particular, the area where we live in the southeast, is re-enforced by several well-respected prophets of our day, that the Lord is sending a great restoring of that which God began more than fifty years ago in signs and wonders and Holy Spirit revival.  Along with that, we are seeing the return of prosperity to this resource-rich province to see it become the place to go to, rather than to go from, because of God's blessings as He gives godly leaders.

E-mail: soulharvest@sasktel.net.  Website:  www.sturgislighthouse.ca  Listen to services online.

From the time he was 14 until 25 he fought alcoholism. He had always said "I will never drink one drop of alcohol in my life", but he took one drink at the age of 14 and he was hooked.

His testimony of salvation will thrill you because it shows just how powerful God is. Terry was born again at an Amway Convention.  Amway has a non-denominational Sunday service in each convention. From that time to this God's power has been alive in his life, and delivered him from a life of sin.   God's power is still able to cleanse and set people free. Faith in Jesus Christ and what He did on Calvary sets the captive free.

In his former life Terry had attempted suicide 5 times but miraculously Jesus kept him alive. God's plan was to save Terry and make him a soul-winner, sanctify him for service to the Kingdom of God, and fill him with the Holy Ghost and power.  God's plan was to make him a champion for God.  And that's exactly what happened.

Now Terry and his wife are pastoring a Church.  God is using them.  Souls are being saved.  Terry's life message has been holiness and a separated life from the world.  His vision for his town is to see it won to Jesus Christ!  Jesus Christ is Lord over Sturgis Saskatchewan.

MISSIONS REPORT FROM HAITI

Our third group to Haiti for 2006 has just returned home.  All trips were successful and our teams were instrumental in helping to distribute a total of 12,000 pounds of rice, 800 family packs, 514 school packs plus carried in needed supplies for our ministry and clinic programs. The new well has been drilled at the orphanage, a new six burner gas stove was purchased and the children received new mattress covers, bedding, clothing and chairs!

One day, we found a Haitian Zombie in Neply.  Pastor Antoine told us more about this young man named Jackson.  In high school, Jackson was the smartest teen in his class.  He and his girlfriend ended up having a conflict.  The girl's father was heavily into voodoo and became angry with Jackson blaming him for the problem.  One night the father poisoned Jackson's food and then put a voodoo curse on him totally ruining his life forever.  From that day on, Jackson has not been able to dress or feed himself and sits with his eyes rolled back in his head. He had no expression on his face and could not properly comprehend anything you said to him.  He could not make eye contact or communicate with anyone.  Our group began to pray with Jackson and by the time we were finished, he was making eye contact with us, smiling, answering our questions and he was dancing with his arms raised toward heaven as we all sang the song, I went to the enemy's camp and I took back what he stole from me!  After, we gave Jackson a plate of food and he ate it all on his own with absolutely no help from anyone.  The Haitians were yelling, it's a miracle, it's a miracle!

In Haiti, being baptized in the Holy Spirit has been taboo in years past because they were taught it had a connection with voodoo!  Last year, God really impressed us more than ever to begin to pray for a real breakthrough in this area.  During our May trip, we held teaching sessions in our churches.

Following the teaching, people were invited to come forward and have the mission team lay hands on them. We weren't sure how the people would respond to this but the altars were full and it was estimated that 75-90 Haitians were filled with the Holy Spirit!  This was a powerful breakthrough and we do believe it's only the start of something new and exciting in our churches in Haiti!

GOD CHALLENGES US

Recently God has been challenging some of my long held beliefs about ministry and how ministry should be done.  He has an interesting way of doing this by often drawing my attention to certain things and then showing me that my ways are restrictive and limiting of His power and sovereignty.

Recently Rev. Andrew (Andy) Quock and I had the opportunity to go on a trip together to visit some of the northern BC and southern Yukon communities.  While part of the trip was to "spy out the land" for future ministry activities, we also took the time to minister encouragement to believers in some of these communities.

Andy is well known in the north as a gospel singer as well as an encourager to believers.  Just how well known he is became apparent as we discovered that some people traveled two hours just to come to hear him sing and minister!   We had a blessed time of fellowship in the places we were able to share. While we praised God for how the ministry went, it did raise in our minds the question of how much we should base ministry on who we are, what reputation we have.  The Apostle Paul wrote, "Who is Apollos?  Who is Paul?" suggesting that we are not to consider ourselves as anything or anyone important.  Often this has been tied in with the principle of Christians needing to be humble and that all glory and honour needs to go to God, not man.  And so many ministers have been reluctant to trade on their name or reputation in order to draw people to a meeting.

But as we discussed this, God showed me that we are not to be afraid to use who we are or who people believe we are, as a tool to draw people to worship.  He showed me that if we are obedient servants of His, who we are is who he made us and shaped us and gifted us to be!  Our reputation, therefore, comes as a result of who we are in Christ.  We can be known as encouragers, as healers, as those who strengthen others, those who correct, those who can teach clearly, etc. only because these are spiritual fruits of a life controlled by Holy Spirit.  As a result, being who we are gives glory and honour to God Almighty.

Is there a danger in letting our abilities and giftings giving us a "swelled head" and leading us into sin?  Of course!  But if we are concerned about it, and open to correction by God, Holy Spirit will alert us to times when we are starting to take the glory to ourselves instead of letting the glory be centered on God.

In the meantime, let us use who we are in Christ, with the good report that others give about us, as ways into the lives of people who need encouragement, who need to hear the gospel of Jesus presented.  Let us use our God given and God directed talents and gifts to minister how and when we can.  Let us not let a false sense of humility restrict our ministry. God used us on this ministry trip and we give him thanks for making us useable vessels.

AZUSA STREET CENTENNIAL

April 25-29, 2006

Los Angeles, Califoria

LOS ANGELES - The General Secretary Rev Paul McPhail was invited by Jack Hayford to be part of the Ministry team at the Azusa Centennial held in April in Los Angeles, California.  There were over 45,000 in attendance, and 113 nations represented.  There were over 160 workshops and general sessions.  There were also 1300 volunteers present.  12,000 Los Angeles families were impacted with food and the Gospel during this event.

Over a thousand people were saved, and hundreds received the Holy Spirit Baptism.  Numerous miracles and healings were reported.  There was dynamic worship, timely preaching, wonderful fellowship and supernatural unity!

Rev McPhail reports that he was part of a final youth meeting in which they laid hands on 10,000 young people commissioning them to go forward in Pentecostal fire and authority to impact the nations for Jesus Christ.

Testimonies continue to be received of changed lives, and miraculous occurrences following the Centennial.  Backsliders have returned to Christ.  Young people have made fresh commitments.  The sick have been healed and people have even been raised from the point of death.  Paul said "I will never forget this meeting and have experienced a profound impact in my life as a result of being there."   You may receive more information and DVD's of the event at the Website: http://www.azusastreet100.net

PRAISE GOD

Praise God! All glory and praise to our Lord Jesus Christ for a blessed convention in Regina. Also, thanks to all who came from near and far. Thank you for making the effort and taking the time and expense to be with us. It was so good to see each one that we knew, and to get to know others. We all were blessed! I personally want to thank all those from the prairie who helped in any way to make the convention run smoothly. Your willingness to help was greatly appreciated. God will reward you.

Each service, whether morning, afternoon or evening, and the morning prayer times were truly blessed of God. We also enjoyed the good fellowship around the meals at the different restaurants. So, for those that weren't able to attend, we are sorry you weren't with us, but if the Lord tarries His coming, you can come to Ottawa in May 2007.

Letters      Letter From The Editor

Dear Servants of the Lord and Friends in Christ:Rev Anna Mae McPhail, Editor

We are praying for you.  But "when the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall raise up a standard against him" Isaiah 59:19.  We need the power of the Spirit against floods.

I was studying the other day the lost axe head passage of Scripture in 2 King 6:5, 6.  One thing I noticed is that the servant admitted he lost the axe head.  He could have plunged in frantically looking for the axe head and leaning to his own understanding, but he admitted he lost it and went to the prophet for help.

Elisha the prophet said "where fell it."  The prophet went back to where he lost it.  "and he cut down a stick and cast it thither and the iron did swim." 2 King 6:6.  The iron did swim by miracle power. "Not by might, nor by power but by my Spirit saith the Lord of hosts."  Zechariah 4:6

We are swimming. The power of the Holy Ghost is swimming all through Canada today. We are well able to go up and take this country for Christ. We praise God and give Him glory for all He is doing.
